We stopped off at Portovenere a beautiful boat port for lunch. A lot of the cafes are closed unfortunately due to the Italian crisis with shop owners not able to afford being open during the winter, sometimes they take it in turns to be open. However the views were amazing and we had the best weather, it was forecast to rain for the majority of the tour however it only rained once for about one minute in Venice other then that we had incredible blue skies, so lucky!!
Well i didn't know what to expect from Cinque Terre, I knew of the cliff face with the colourful buildings from famous pictures etc but never knew what or where it was, always referring to it as that 'colourful building thing'. However it was one of my favourite days, maybe because I had no expectations. We made a whole day out of it, being given a map and a time table by the guide and let loose to explore. We were restricted by the train times though it worked out perfectly allowing us about an hour average at each stop. We all had dressed so warmly being told it would be cold however the sun was shining and it didn't take long to strip down as much as possible sweating from climbing the mountains to catch the best views.

That night we had a free night for dinner however the guide raved on about the best pesto you will ever eat and suggested we all join him for a pesto penne, a very good choice YUM!!! More wine and bread having to unbutton the jeans, but worth it.
On our way back to Rome we of course had to have a stop over at the famous LEANING TOWER OF PISA! And yep I can confirm that it does in fact lean over! Of course we all did the usual poses pretending to hold it up. It is funny watching people in strange poses, it is pretty hard to try and think of something original, as I'm sure no matter what you think of it would have been done once or twice. Cool to see and to tick off the list of things to do.

Have to go there too it seems. Looks fantastic and so typical of the Italian seaside/cliffside village scenery you hear about.
