Leigh Park

Little trip away with Stem and Mum/John to a place called Leigh Park just past Mulwala. Not too far to drive for any of us with basic cabins, pool, bbq etc. It felt a bit like camping with the varandahs overlooking the bush but with the luxury of showers and toilets. We headed off Friday lunch time for naps in the car stopping to pick up Suvo’s boat and a grocery shop. Damien dropped $200 cash out of his pocket at the shop though when we asked the staff if someone had handed it in, he was very happily surprised to hear someone had! We arrived at the venue after the Parker’s who were already in the pool! It didn’t take long to unpack, pour a bevy and join them.
John and Jazmin had to be contained with a makeshift playpen. Everyone had a spot of tennis, though this proved to be bad for Damien who had broken a few ribs a week earlier in a motorbike crash, hence he was a bit sore for the rest of the trip.
The kids slept very well after the full day of swimming and running around with the cousins. The spa off from the pool was a great little spot for Harriet to get some swimming confidence being warm and shallow, however that all came to an end when she pooped herself in it…
Em, Steve and Myles headed off for parkrun leaving Elliott with us for breakfast with Harriet. The caretaker grabbed the kids to watch him feed the animals, Elliott and Harriet were a bit scared at first but watched him feed the sheep and chickens. Harriet became quite attached to one sheep and was very intrigued with its poo! Later saying her favourite part of the holiday was the “poo sheep”.
The kids passed out after a Bbq, potato bake and coleslaw dinner. We ended each night with watching the sunset through the trees.
Sunday the boys went for a boat ride and fish while we packed. We met them by a winery only down the road where they could dock the boat. We enjoyed lunch on the winery grass looking over the river. Headed back to pack the cars and gave the kids a cup of frozen berries, as I had to get rid of the bag i'd brought! After a swim we headed back home in perfect timing for naps. Unfortunately Elliott apparently vomited his berries in the car.. twice.. I also ended up vomiting a few times that night and am still recovering from an unknown tummy illness. Always good to catch up with the cousins though always bound to return with some kind of sickness.
