A Wicked Sydney Trip

You know when you’re with friends and you say “we should get away together” but you never do? Well we decided last year to actually book flights, accommodation and show tickets for Wicked, so that we had to go! Kate found out she was pregnant the very next day after booking to which we said too bad you still have to come and you can still fly at 33 weeks. 

The weekend finally arrived, we met at the airport bright and early Friday morning for the first flight to make the most of our time away. Uber to the accommodation to check in our bags and straight to yum char for an early lunch. Was so delicious and we over ate as we just needed to try everything and the trolleys just kept on coming. After lunch we hit up the shops where I spent most of my budget pretty quickly. 

We checked into the apartment and had some hot margaritas while getting dressed for the show, the grog shop didn’t have any ice! Needless to say the non pregnant ones, were pretty loud by the time we met Paula at a French restaurant. I ticked off a bucket list and ordered snails, garlicky nothing really. After dinner it was a short walk to the Lyric theatre to be squashed in like sardines for Wicked. It was a good show but not my favourite. We were all pretty happy to head back to the accommodation for some much needed, non-kid-interrupted sleep.

We slept in untill 8am!!! Then got ready for another day in the city first stop the Queen Victoria Building for a fancy breaky and some window shopping… Sarah, Emma and I had a few cocktails on a rooftop bar while Kate and Paula went back to the hotel to nap. 

Drinks in an empty stomach saw us in a 711 shopping for cheese and biscuits and more drinks on our way back got the hotel to get ready for dinner. 

We had a booking for ChinChin this time which was quite a few courses of Asian dishes and absolutely YUM! Though the 3rd course nearly killed me with the chilli! 

Another awesome sleep in and an Uber to The Rocks to try out a Patisserie that was recommended. It was so so YUM and decandent. 

The Sunday markets happened to be on so that was a welcome surprise activity where I bought a necklace, ring and earring set. We relaxed at a bar looking at the harbour and opera house with our last cocktail of the trip, before catching another Uber to the airport. 

It was so great to get away with the girls and away from our kids for a much needed break. The husbands had held the fort at home while we were away and I’m sure they were happy we were home.
