Kosciuszko - Check out that 4x4

2nd-6th October 2020

 After a lot of planning and chats about camping and 4 wheel drive trip Damien and Suvo actually decided to go on a trip.  They organised the whole thing to Kosciusko staying in Tumut first to break up our trip.  First stop was Yarrangobilly Caves' thermal pool, a bit of a hike for the littlies but they enjoyed the water for about 5 minutes before deciding it was cold, and kinda mucky. I just enjoyed the serenity by the edge of the water...

Didn't really want to be in the Defender for hours

We found small patches of snow on our next drive to camp, which was a hoot with all of the kids copping it a bit from Damien. We set up in a nice camp spot with other campers near by, something we never usually have to do in Darlington Point, however it ended up being great for the kids to meet new people, and have fun playing spotlight and using the walky talkies.

Braid station 

We did a couple of walks and drives. My favourite day was walking through creeks. Everyone else just walked through in their runners... I didn't realise there would be so many creek crossings so I took my shoes off for the first few crossings, painfully walking in freezing water on sharpe rocks, drying my feet at the other side, and Damien even biggy backing me over one... THEN finally decided ill just get my shoes wet, low and behold that was the last crossing.. It was picturesque scenery for a walk, we all loved it a lot, coming back to dry out socks by the fire.  

Then the real fun began for the boys! We took the Brindabellas track to Canberra. A very windy off road dirt track, it was a lot of fun, until we got to the bottom and realised our fire pit (a soccer ball shaped pit Damien made that we were taking to Lisa in Canberra as a gift) had fallen off the ute in the turmoil! We left Amanda to keep kids while the 3 of us went back for a 2nd run!! 

Perfect timing to arrive in Canberra as the rain started and for much needed showers and clothes washing. we stayed in 2 apartments and met up with Lisa and Andrew for dumplings, scootin' and the arcade! Where I got stuck I a gambling coin game! Was really a perfect, kid friendly, few days and a great taste tester for future holidays. Hopefully next time Simpson Desert dune crossings!!
