Secret Life Of Us

So this is what i have been doing with EVERY spare moment of my life and has forced me to not sleep or have a life in general... Its Secret Life Of Us show that all second year designers, actors and television production (proddies) students collaboratively work on. There are SIX episodes, my class is divided into groups of 5, we design the set for three episodes each. We can change our designs for each show so its kind of a process so by the last episode it SHOULD be perfected. We designed a sports bar for my groups first episode (not the idea of most of the group BUT the guy designated as designer for this one wouldn't change it) BUT it looked awesome in the end i was so happy with it. Next episode will be next term and should not take up as much time see and though the paintings all done etc... We also only had a $75 budget to do this...

So first we design it...

then source everything we need... then paint...














Then 'bump in' which is when we put everything up in the tv studio takes a day and then the actors are allowed to reherse in the space... (i was on costume for this show)








Then the next day is 'record' where everything is in place we finish set dressing ie putting up posters, and the proddies come in with the cameras etc and we 'shoot'. Designers have to hang around for this just in case theres a design problem ie i had to change an actors top as it was too white in the scene... and posters fall off the wall and we have to keep filling up the wine blttles as they drink it (water) for continuity. A fun learning day.
