* have been learning to rig up lights and use the lighting desk (plugging everthing in, fading lights, setting and designing where lights go etc realised that there is alot to it and will actually be pretty hard to design etc and we've only just done the basics, havnt got into using GELLS etc aahhhhh)
* One of my subjects is a COSTUME DESIGN subject hip hip horay!!! We have been experimenting with fabrics such as printing and dyeing and have also made some FELT in heaps of differents ways ie making dred lock looking things (wouls make awesome wigs) and balls of felt that you cut in half and the colours show (could be used for something costumey) we will be dong a felting workshop for a day next term with some felting person just for fun not really as part of the course but just becouse our lecturer is AWESOME. In the last class we experimented with making COSTUMES/FABRIC LOOK OLD/USED, so we bleached fabric to make them look faded, spray painted, rub soap for ages into felt and it turns out looking like leather (a cheaper alternative), rub grafite and shalack onto fabric to give an illusion of metal, we destroyed jeans with cheese graters to make them look worn (can also but jeans in a cement grater with rocks and dirt), made a bullet hole in the jeans and surrounded it with 'blood' (golden syrup, cocoa and red dye makes a good consistancy and colour) FUN FUN FUN but time consuming if you were going to do a large amount of fabric or costumes
We have to make our own costume (having the characer in mind) out of already made garments from op shops ie mens shirts and suit jackets, I was going to use my TIE DRESS ive nearlly finished BUT she showed us some examples in class and said tie skirts etc are a bit cleche' which sucks ANY IDEAS??????? Its due after the hols...
* Im working on SOUND DESIGN this semester (last semester did costume for ARABIAN NIGHTS) so ive got to go to the playhouse a few times and sit in the sound box while the show ANIMAL FARM is on, might have to do a few shows on closing night by myself... We have finally got our subject outline for this subject so now know what its actua;lly about, we have to right an actual SCRIPT with the LIGHTING and SOUND CUES on it etc for the stage manager component, then theres a lighting mini test practicle as well as writen ie have to show that we can rig a light as well as name them etc and then theres aset design drafting assignment.
* My THEATRE HISTORY subject is pretty interesting and is deffinatly important to know when we're designing im just not looking forward to the amount of essays for it ie one major essay and three little ones in the exam...
The first photography assignment is due on MONDAY, its not that big of an assignment just time consuming and the technical stuff has to be really GOOD also taking a 'good shot' is pretty hard especially being at uni with the most unatractive buildings and trees etc that have probably all been used so many times in the past. Im loving developing my own photos though, from going into the COMPLETLY DARK room to thread the negative to be processed, then process them takes about and hour, then choose best pics do test strips of paper to find the best FILTER and EXPOSURE TIME and LINING UP the pic on the paper in the dark room bla bla bla
Heres some pics of US haveing a BBQ lunch one Sunday, played a bit of volleyball was rally fun bonding time and soaking in the begginging of spring SUN YAY
