WHISTLER....... The Grand Finale

You've never experienced real snow until you have been to Canada and the best place to take advantage of it is at Whistler... it is such a gorgeous place and makes you fall in love with the snow!!!! Oh and the sking isnt bad either.

It took two six seater people movers to get us to Toronto airport, one to move the people and the other for the laugage!!! Stress levels were high, fingers were crossed, you could cut the tension with a knife... as we checked in the overweight bags, BUT luck was on our side and we made it safely to WHISTLER... with no excess weight fees!!!

We had really great whether on our first two days of skiing, the sights were breath-taking, however my lack of experience on a snow board meant I fell behind the others and spent most of the 1st day on my bum!!!! That day Dad and i headed home early to exchange my board for a pair of skis, expecting the others to join us at home within an hour or so... as it got dark and still no sign of them we started to get worried, Dad assuming the worst rang the hospital and was just about to call police when they arrived exhausted. They had cought the wrong bus which took them around the whole village, at one of the stops Jenny noticed her skis were missing off the side of the bus BUT the driver wouldn't let them off untill they were a fair way up the rd so had to walk back past a few stops in their ski boots carrying skis and poles. Jenny hired skis for the next day and after a few phone calls that night managed to get them back... a man had picked them up mistaking them for his wifes skis, we couldn't believe our luck 'we are so lucky', if only we were so lucky with finding Alex's board.

Our days began EARLY with a big breakfast of pancakes and porridge, then trying to forget our aching muscles we squished onto the bus and onto the ski lifts where we could enjoy the veiws of the freshly groomed slopes. The 10 minute ski lift allowed us to catch our breath, have a quick snack and organise our next run. Each run took about half an hour, I stuck to the green runs and mastered one in particular while the more daring ones took to the blue runs. Each day ended at about 2:30, we came home stripped off our soaking jackets and smelly gloves had a HUGE lunch then ran over to the hot tub in the cold wearing only our swimmers and a towel, it was strange swimming in an outdoor pool while it was snowing. After the relaxing hot tub we compared battle wounds (Jenny always had the worst ones) had dinner then to bed. (pic of pool is our view from room)

We all improved after 4 days skiing even I had a go at some blue runs but was definatly not as daring as Em and Steve 'Crazy' bests describes it. On our last day of skiing we ventured to the very top of the mt the visibility was very poor and the slope very steep, it was very scary. I had to take my goggles off because they froze over which meant the snow was falling in my eyes so i had to close them... although very scary we made it safely down after many stacks BUT dont get me wrong it was amazingly fun!! (pic: the 4 of us in the Whistler village on New Years Eve)

On the last day it snowed all day and visibility was poor, we had used up our 4 day skiing pass anyway (more luck) so we went tubing. It would have been better if we had taken our goggles because the snow hitting our face meant we had to close our eyes. The fun came after when we decided not to take the bus home instead we trecked it through the snow, we returned to the resort soaking wet and close to frost bite on our feet but it was still so much fun rolling in the snow.
Whistler was the best end to the holiday BUT it isnt over yet we still have a few more mesely hours of sitting untill back in SUNNY AUSTRALIA
