No stopping until it’s done. The 2 sides were finished about a year ago and I’ve since painted them and have been awaiting the time for Dad to come back and finish the job. Of course the week we chose ended up raining and was the first cold snap for the season! Which just made the render take longer to dry, not to mention being out in the cold wind etc.
Damien had a few days off and started the demo of the railing, something I didn’t expect to happen so soon but am so glad it’s off! We got some quotes to concrete in the ramp! Damien also had a “chain saw massacre” with the trees!
Dad scratched his hands up pretty early on which was a struggle with always keeping them wet while sponging etc but he eventually listened to me and got some washing up gloves. I was initially boiling the kettle to keep the water warm even using the suvede to warm up some water until Dad made the obvious decision to just get hot water from the tap! Der!
Just a few trees to get rid of!
As the render didn’t dry very fast Dad was even out in the cold night sponging. I could see his motivation dwindling for the last few days! But he got it all done in about 4 days! Pretty good going!
And here is the finished 2 coats of render and a much more open front entrance. It’s made a huge difference to entering the house and we love it! Can’t wait to paint and get the garden happening. Our loan came through while dad was here so we’ve also started the convo with the excavator driver to get the demo and leveling happening out the back! Next step is to order the pool.
Meanwhile, between coats of render Dad's usual can’t sit still persona meant lots of odd jobs got done ie a new letter box, started staining the new outdoor table, lots of trips to Bunnings and bricking some garden edging! Thanks HEAPS Dad the place looks great.
First of many loads to take away
