The Great Debate

During Hair Scott Howie (my ex lecturer) asked if Blu, Pink and I wanted to design and manage a debate for his work Eastern Riverina Arts Program. I said yes i'd do it but the other girls weren't interested so I took on the whole thing. The argument was that 'YOU CANT TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS'. There were no expectations for audience numbers or the success of the show as it is the first time they've put on something like it in Wagga. I left it to the last minute as it was an extremely big rush finishing Hair, bumping out etc and of course celebrating

Production manager: I had to email the Civic Theatre and contact all necessary people for the event. Make sure the 'talent' were informed of call times etc And inform the tech at the thetare what I needed in regards to tables, chairs, mics, lighting etc

Set designer: Scott wanted it to be funky, warm and intimate. So... . I brainstormed with Pink and Blue one night while they were painting the stage after Hair, and came up with a back yard BBQ feel, with picket fences and gardening set dressing items.

THE DESIGN:

THE FINISHED PRODUCT: (Photo to be added, getting image from newspaper photographer)

The event only went for an hour, and was short and sweet. There was a good reaction from the audience and I think it will be something they will do again. I am so glad I did it even though it nearly killed me, when my body thought I was just about finished and ready to collapse, pinched nerves, headaches, pimples, fatigue BUT I pushed through for another 3 days.... crazy!!
